The first phase of local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has been completed in the event of the worst defeat of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Surprisingly, unlike other opposition parties, only the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has succeeded in filling the PTI vacuum.
Thus, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been rewarded for continuously mobilizing and activating his workers in the last three years. On the contrary, as far as the PTI is concerned, it has lost the mayoral elections of Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat and Bannu, the four largest cities of the province, and has also lost the elections of at least 50 tehsils.
In this case, the JUI was very much in favor. At the time when the candidates were being given tickets by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), there was an echo of differences, but then, ignoring the concerns of serious party leaders, Tickets were distributed on the basis and the party had to suffer the consequences in the form of election results.
In fact, it is such a big blow that now Prime Minister Imran Khan himself has to come to the fore on all these issues. In all the tehsils except one or two, the party candidates were contested by angry and rebellious candidates of the party. If the votes of rebel and party candidates are collected, it is clear that the seats were lost due to wrong decisions.
With the election results, there is a storm of accusations going on now. Some provincial ministers are blaming inflation for this. However, the prime minister has blamed the selection of wrong candidates. Party members have openly leveled allegations against the National Assembly, led by Noor Alam Khan and Nasir Musazai.
It is also being said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has sent a report to the Prime Minister in this regard in which the responsibility for the defeat in the first phase of local body elections has been borne by Governor Shah Farman, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and party central leader Saifullah Niazi. , Federal and provincial ministers, 9 national and 12 provincial assembly members, while the family of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Arbab Shehzad has also been charged.
According to sources, the report said that the ticket for mayor of Peshawar was given by Governor Shah Farman, Provincial Finance Minister Timur Jhagra and Kamran Bangash while Arbab Shehzad’s family also supported the opposition candidate. The party was defeated due to differences between Governor and party MNA Nasir Musazai in Badhaber Tehsil. And supported his relative Faridullah.
In Mardan district, provincial minister Atif Khan distributed tickets without consulting the cabinet and workers, so in Mardan, Atif Khan is responsible for the party’s failure. In Swabi, on the recommendation of Speaker Asad Qaiser and provincial education minister Shahram Turki, his relatives They got tickets where the party suffered defeat in two tehsils. In Khyber district, tickets were given on the recommendation of Federal Minister Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and MNA Iqbal Afridi while the party MPA also supported the opposition candidate.
In Charsadda, MNA Fazal Mohammad Khan and Provincial Minister Fazal Shakoor distributed tickets where the party suffered its worst defeat. In Bajaur, tickets were given on the recommendation of MNA Gul Zafar. However, MPA Ajmal Khan campaigned against the party candidate. In Kohat, Saifullah Niazi distributed tickets while National Assembly member Shehryar Afridi took no interest in the campaign. In Lakki Marwat, candidates were nominated on the recommendation of Federal Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, but Ali Amin Gandapur and MPA Hisham. The party was defeated due to the ongoing differences between Inamullah. In Bannu, the provincial minister Shah Muhammad Wazir distributed tickets.
On the other hand, the spokesman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif while denying the inquiry report clarified that no such report has been submitted to the Prime Minister and so far no inquiry has been held regarding the local body elections. However, in the recent meeting between the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, the results of the local body elections and the performance of the party have been discussed.
However, it remains to be seen what kind of action is being taken against those responsible for the wrong distribution of tickets as the phase of local body elections has come to a head in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the field for local body elections is about to be set in Punjab. The way the party’s reputation has been tarnished by the shocks of defeat and the opposition has had the opportunity to vent their frustrations, surely Prime Minister Imran Khan will now do his best to avoid such a situation in the next phase.
