There will be power shortage in the country in the next 48 hours: Khurram Dastgir

Federal Minister of Energy Khurram Dastgir has said that the electricity system has been completely restored in the country, but there will be a shortage of electricity in the country in the next 48 hours.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that NTDC has 1112 grid stations in the country and all have been restored.

Khurram Dastgir said that the electricity system was restored in the country at 5:15 this morning, the nuclear plant needs 24 to 48 hours to restart.

The federal minister said that 48 hours are required to run coal plant as well, there will be load shedding in the country in the next 48 hours.

He said that the country’s transmission system has been safe, there is plenty of oil to run power plants.

Khurram Dastgir said that there is a demand of 11,500 to 12,000 electricity during the day, everything will be restored by the day after tomorrow.

The federal minister said that the prime minister has formed a three-member inquiry committee, which will be headed by Mossadegh Malik.

Khurram Dastgir said that the possibility of external interference from the Internet is less, but there is a fear that there has been no external interference in our system.

He said that there is apprehension and investigation has to be done whether external intervention through hacking has not taken place in our system, there have been incidents in some time, so the matter of hacking has to be looked into.

The federal minister said that the previous government did not make new investments in the system.

Khurram Dastgir said that electricity will be restored in Karachi soon, 1100 megawatts of electricity will be provided to the city.
