Getting named from FATF is a big achievement for all institutions

The removal of Pakistan’s name from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is a great achievement for all institutions of the country.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa played a key role in ensuring the implementation of FATF terms.

He set up a special cell at the General Headquarters (GHQ) to implement the FATF provisions.

A special cell headed by a Major General established a system of liaison between ministries and agencies and ensured the implementation of each and every point of FATF.

The Special Cell tackled money laundering, terror financing, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and targeted killings through effective operations.

By implementing FATF conditions, Pakistan has proved to the world that we are a responsible state and nation.

India created many difficulties in removing Pakistan’s name from FATF.

It should be noted that after being included in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) gray list for about 52 months, Pakistan’s name was removed from this list.

Getting off FATF’s gray list will make it easier for Pakistan to get foreign funding.

Pakistan will remain under FATF monitoring, Pakistan needs to further implement the Anti-Money Laundering and Terror Financing Law.
