The Peshawar High Court has sought a written response from the Election Commission and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ghulam Ali regarding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly elections.
In the Peshawar High Court, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Atiq Shah heard PTI’s request for timely elections to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
PTI leaders Azam Swati, Asad Qaiser, Shibli Faraz and Shah Farman appeared in the court.
The Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa argued that the Chief Secretary has submitted the reply today.
The court inquired that the governor has not submitted the answer, the governor should tell us why he has not given the date yet?
The Advocate General said that according to the constitution, the Governor still has time to give the date.
Justice Arshad Ali remarked that it will be discussed later, first give a written reply that the governor did not give a date in response to the letter, if the election commission does not get the date, what will be the action plan.
The court also directed the Election Commission to submit a written reply.
PTI’s lawyer presented the decision of Lahore High Court in the court.
PTI’s counsel argued that the Election Commission’s letter, the Governor’s reply and the President’s letter are on record.
The court ordered to submit all written responses by Thursday.
The Peshawar High Court adjourned the hearing till Thursday after seeking a written reply from the Election Commission and the Governor.
