Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader and former federal minister Asad Umar has said that there is no greater crime than deviating from the constitution, which is punishable by treason.
Speaking to the media along with Fawad Chaudhry and Hamad Azhar at Zaman Park Lahore, Asad Umar said that a constitutional crisis has arisen in Pakistan, the Election Commission is not fulfilling its constitutional responsibility.
He said that in the decision of Lahore High Court, it was asked to hold the election within 90 days, he did not give any date even after 4 days.
The PTI leader further said that the constitution states that the punishment for deviating from the constitution is in Article 6. A constitutional expert said that it warrants the arrest of the Chief Election Commissioner.
He said that when the constitution is broken, there is no greater crime than that.
Asad Umar also said that it is not the time of Justice Munir, this is not the case of Maulvi Tamizuddin, Peshawar High Court has given one day’s respite to the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.
He said that the leadership and workers of the nation and Tehreek-e-Insaaf will defend the constitution, this imported government has to be dragged towards the elections.
The central leader of PTI said that the date of election in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be announced before the end of today.
He said that the responsibility of holding elections in both provinces rests with the governors. I am sure that the Peshawar High Court will also ask the governor to give the date of the election.
Asad Umar said that he knows that Imran Khan will be successful with a huge majority, so he does not want to hold this election.
He said that if there is a deviation from the constitution of Pakistan, they will start a jail-wide movement across the country, and all the major leaders of the party will be arrested.
Central PTI leader said that Fawad Chaudhry has served his turn to go to jail, he has immunity from arrest.
