A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court on the petition against the Lahore Master Plan 2050, on this occasion DGLDA Aamir Ahmed Khan and other officers appeared in the court.

The court directed to hire an international or local consultant to re-evaluate the Lahore Master Plan.

The hearing Justice Shahid Karim remarked that this is a plan till 2050 which will affect the citizens, I am saying with regret that the societies are built overnight by eliminating the farms.

He remarked that the magnificent green fields were being destroyed to build housing societies, land was taken away from the farmers and the economy was being damaged.

Justice Shahid Karim said that earlier he used to say that this is a matter of our future, today’s pollution situation has put our and children’s survival in danger.

He said that we all have to examine this matter, go to the city and see what is its current condition, the issue of basic rights of citizens cannot be left to the political government and LDA.

Justice Shahid Karim remarked that it has become difficult to live our lives in such an environment, I do not like to interfere but my heart hurts.

The court adjourned the case for further hearing for 2 weeks.
