Special Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi has opposed the acquittal plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shehbaz Gill.
A hearing was held in the District and Sessions Court Islamabad regarding the indictment of PTI leader Shehbaz Gill in the case of inciting rebellion against institutions.
Shahbaz Gill’s lawyer and special prosecutor appeared in the court.
The lawyer of the accused pleaded for a break in the hearing and said that Shahbaz Gill will come to the court by one o’clock.
The judge remarked that the acquittal plea of Shahbaz Gill has to be discussed today.
Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi said that the main accused Shahbaz Gill’s plea for acquittal has passed, his plea for acquittal cannot be heard at this stage.
Rizwan Abbasi said that the prosecution has ample material to prove the crime against Shehbaz Gill.
After a break in the hearing, Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra ordered Shehbaz Gill’s lawyers to present their arguments on the plea of acquittal and adjourned the hearing till one o’clock.
