Karachi police officers and officials were involved in kidnapping for ransom operations.
Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) Karachi conducted an operation at Yusuf Plaza police station and recovered Zia-ul-Haq, a citizen kidnapped for ransom.
During the operation, one accused was arrested while former SHO Imran and other accused escaped.
A person involved in the kidnapping, Abdul Latif, has been arrested, while Sub-Inspector Imran Mehmood, his accomplice Abdul Hadi and other accused are absconding.
According to AVCC officials, the accused kidnapped Zia-ul-Haq from an Afghan settlement on February 6 and Abdul Latif and Abdul Hadi, the accomplices of the accused, demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from the kidnapper’s family.
Then they agreed to release the hostage on payment of a ransom of 6 lakh rupees and threatened to kill the hostage if the ransom was not received by February 9.
After the case was registered in Gulshan Mimar police station on February 10, the investigation was started and the hostage was recovered from Yusuf Plaza police station on a tip-off.
Police officials further informed that sub-inspector Imran SHO Yusuf Plaza was posted and was removed 3 days ago, search is on for former SHO Yusuf Plaza and his associates.
