Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed was refused permission by the Adiala Jail authorities to appear before the Returning Officer.
Jail sources say that there were instructions from RONA 62 to present Sheikh Rasheed, there was no clear direction in the instructions issued by the RO.
The nomination papers were scrutinized in the presence of Sheikh Rashid’s appointed representative, Sheikh Rashid’s nomination papers were declared valid by the returning officer of NA-62 Rawalpindi.
Sheikh Rasheed’s representative Sheikh Rashid Shafiq appeared before R.O. Nausheen Asrar, objections can be filed till February 13, so far no objections have been received on Sheikh Rasheed’s nomination papers.
Earlier, while talking to the media, Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, the nephew of former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, said that on his return from Murree, he took Sheikh Rashid to meet someone at night.
Sheikh Rashid Shafiq said that at 7 o’clock in the night there was a call from the jail that we are not presenting Sheikh Rashid.
He said that the Jail Superintendent refused to obey the order of the Magistrate, RO has approved the nomination papers of Sheikh Rasheed.
