Pakistan hockey team leaves for Bangladesh to participate in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy

Goalkeepers Amjad Ali and Mazhar Abbas, who were recently invited to the camp, could not get their visas yet. It was decided to send goalkeepers Abdullah and Waqar, who represented Pakistan in the Junior World Cup, to Dhaka.

Secretary of the federation Asif Bajwa said that both the goalkeepers have Bangladeshi visas, they do not want to take any risk so they are sending only junior goalkeepers.

Pakistan team left without goalkeepers to participate in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy.

Initially, the goalkeepers in the squad were not sent with the team due to disappointing performances in the Junior World Cup and the visas of the two senior goalkeepers who were added to the camp at the last minute could not be obtained. The team went to Dhaka without goalkeepers.

On the recommendation of goalkeeper coach Ahmed Alam, veteran Amjad Ali and Mazhar Abbas were added to the squad in place of junior team goalkeeper Waqar and Abdullah.

Secretary of the federation Asif Bajwa said that the visas of Amjad Ali and Mazhar Abbas have not been received yet and they do not want to take any risk so they have decided to send only junior goalkeepers to Dhaka.

Pakistan will play its first match in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy against Japan on Tuesday.
