A ministerial committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister IT Syed Aminul Haq on the closure of Wikipedia.
On this occasion, Syed Aminul Haq said that consultation with the Ministry of IT will be mandatory before any website closure, website closure means disconnection from the digital world and socio-economic damage.
The Federal Minister said that he is opposed to any such initiative that paralyzes the process of construction and development of the country, awareness should be raised among the people not to visit websites with immoral and religious hatred.
Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that the PTA authorities can seek suggestions from the Ministry of Law on the instructions received from any side, there is a need for such amendments in the law that no one can completely block the website.
Federal Commerce Minister Naveed Qamar said that he supports the opening of Wikipedia on the instructions of the Prime Minister.
Minister of Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar and Federal Minister of Commerce Naveed Qamar participated in the meeting.
Secretary IT Mohsin Mushtaq, members of Legal, Telecom and PTA officials also participated.
