Commonwealth Games: Pakistan’s best performance since 1970

At the Commonwealth Games, Pakistan won 8 medals including two gold medals and finished 18th in the Games. This is the best performance by the Pakistani team at the Commonwealth Games since 1970.

68 athletes from Pakistan participated in 12 different sports in Commonwealth Games 2022 to be held in Birmingham.

Noah Dastgir Butt won Pakistan’s first gold medal in weightlifting, then Arshad Nadeem won gold in the athletics event with a record throw in the javelin throw.

On the other hand, the performance of Pakistani wrestlers was also outstanding, Sharif Tahir, Inam Butt and Zaman Anwar won silver medals.

Wrestlers Inayatullah and Ali Asad won bronze medals while Shah Hussain Shah also won a bronze medal in Judoka.

This is the best performance by the national team at the Commonwealth Games since 1970, in 1970 Pakistan won 10 medals including 4 gold medals.

In Manchester in 2002, Pakistani athletes won 8 medals but that included only one gold medal, while in the 2010 Games in Delhi, Pakistan won five medals, including two gold medals.
