New Zealand: Authorities seized 3 tons of cocaine floating on the sea


Authorities seized 3 tons of cocaine worth $320 million floating on the sea in New Zealand.

New Zealand police said in a statement that they conducted a joint operation in the Pacific Ocean with the Customs Service and the Defense Force.

Police Commissioner Andrew Koster said it was one of the largest seizures of illegal drugs in New Zealand.

According to New Zealand Customs Service Controller Bill Perry, the 3.2 tonnes of cocaine is worth US$320 million.

Officials expressed concern that the drugs were possibly being transported to Australia.
