bIndian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s right-wing government has declared February 14 as ‘Cow Hugging Day’.
The government has asked citizens to hug a cow on February 14 on Valentine’s Day.
The Animal Welfare Board of India said it has declared February 14 as ‘Cow Hug’ Day after consulting the federal Animal Husbandry Ministry.
Considering the numerous benefits of cow, embracing it will be a very emotional act and will add to our individual and collective happiness, the statement said.
The board said that the invasion of western civilization has made us forget our culture and heritage.
It should be noted that right-wing Hindu extremist organizations condemn the celebration of Valentine’s Day, claiming that such festivals are corrupting Indian culture.
Extremist groups in India attack couples in parks and restaurants, forcing many of them into marriage.
Effigies of Saint Valentine are also burnt in India.
