Contempt of court petition against Fawad Chaudhry dismissed as inadmissible

The Islamabad High Court declared the contempt of court petition against PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry inadmissible for his anti-judiciary statements.

Justice Babar Sattar of Islamabad High Court dismissed the application as inadmissible.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer Salimullah Khan appeared in the court in his personal capacity.

Arguing in the court, he said that the transcript of Fawad Chaudhry’s statements is attached with the application, which I would like to read.

Petitioner lawyer Salimullah Khan argued that Fawad Chaudhry said that Imran Khan cannot be punished for contempt of court, he is a popular leader, Fawad Chaudhry’s statement is against not only any judge, but the entire judiciary including the Chief Justice.

The lawyer requested the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Fawad Chaudhry due to his insulting statements.

The court asked the petitioner what kind of contempt of court action can be taken?

Petitioner lawyer Salimullah Khan said that criminal contempt of court action should be taken against Fawad Chaudhry.

The Islamabad High Court has declared that criticizing the judgments with political statements does not constitute contempt of court. He is under trial in a larger bench.

The Islamabad High Court dismissed the application as inadmissible.
