Two and a half thousand dead water cats have been found on the coast of the Caspian Sea in Russia, according to the report of the American broadcasting organization, their death has been declared as a result of natural factors.

In 2008, the International Union for Conservation of Nature declared the water cats in the Qazvin Sea as endangered.

According to the report, these water cats apparently died two weeks ago, officials say that even the remains of fishing nets were not found on them.

According to Russia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, 700 dead water cats were initially found on the beach, but later the number reached 2500 after more bodies were found.

Using samples extracted from dead water cats, experts are trying to determine the causes of their death.
