The first Indian voter passed away 3 days after casting his last vote.

According to Indian media, 106-year-old Shyam Saran Negi, a resident of the state of Himachal Pradesh, voted 34 times during his lifetime.

Indian media say that Shyam Saran Negi cast his last vote for the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh on November 2.

Shyam Saran Negi cast his first vote on October 23, 1951 in his hometown.

The Election Commission of India has also issued a message for Shri Shyam Saran Negi expressing his grief over his death.

The Election Commission of India wrote on Twitter that it is always grateful to Shri Shyam Saran Negi for his services.

Apart from this, other government officials have also expressed grief over his death.
