Faisal Vavda’s life disqualification case will be heard carefully and in detail, Chief Justice

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Atta Bandyal has said that Article 62 of life disqualification is a draconian law, and will hear Faisal Vawda’s life disqualification case carefully and in detail.

In the Supreme Court, a three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan heard the petition against the lifetime disqualification of PTI leader Faisal Vawda.

Faisal Vawda’s lawyer Wasim Sajjad said that Faisal Vawda contested the election in 2018, after 2 years a disqualification petition was filed in the High Court on his false affidavit.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan said that the Election Commission has the authority to investigate false affidavits, even if the Supreme Court annuls the order of lifetime disqualification of the Election Commission, the facts will remain the same.

Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal said in his remarks that the Election Commission has properly reviewed the facts in the Faisal Vawda case.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan further said that the only question in this case is whether the Election Commission can order lifelong disqualification or not, the case will be heard in detail.

On this occasion, lawyer Farooq H. Naik said that the Islamabad High Court has made it clear in its decision that Faisal Vawda has recognized dual citizenship.

The hearing of the case in the Supreme Court was adjourned till October 6.
