List of nominations for PCB Awards 2021 released

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the list of nominees for the 2021 Awards.

According to the released list, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been shortlisted in five different categories.

The 21-year-old fast bowler has been named in the categories of Outstanding Performance of the Year, T20 International Cricketer of the Year, ODI International Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and Most Valuable Cricketer of the Year.

In Calendar Year 2021, Shaheen Shah Afridi performed brilliantly in all three styles of cricket. He took 47 wickets in 9 Test matches, 8 wickets in 6 ODIs and 23 wickets in 21 T20s.

His 3 wickets for 31 runs against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 is one of the most impressive performances of the year. There are three other nominations in this category.

All players, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, have been nominated by a 10-member independent panel, which includes former international cricketers, broadcasters and media representatives.

The winners of the PCB Awards will be announced through a virtual digital show. The digital show will be broadcast live on PCB’s official YouTube and Facebook channels on Thursday, January 6 at 7 pm.

Muhammad Rizwan has also been nominated in the categories of Most Impressive Performance of the Year, T20 International Cricketer of the Year and Most Valuable Cricketer of the Year.

Hassan Ali has been shortlisted for Most Impressive Performance of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and Most Valuable Cricketer of the Year.

Babar Azam, Fawad Alam and Haris Rauf have also been shortlisted in two categories of awards.

Babar Azam, the recipient of the Most Valuable Cricketer of the PCB Awards 2020, has once again been nominated in this category and has also been shortlisted in the list of the best ODI cricketers of the year.

Fawad Alam has been nominated for the most impressive performance of the year and Test cricketer of the year.

Harris Rauf has been shortlisted in the categories of T20 and ODI International Cricketer of the Year.

Arshad Iqbal, Azam Khan, Muhammad Wasim Jr. and Shahnawaz Dahani have been shortlisted for Emerging Cricketer of the Year.

Players born on or after August 1, 1998 or who made an international debut in this calendar year or played at least 15 matches in Cricket Association events and HBLPSL are eligible.

A player who has been nominated once in this category cannot be re-nominated, so despite their impressive performances in this calendar year, Haider Ali and Mohammad Harira were not nominated for this category as they were shortlisted last year.

Mohammad Harira has been shortlisted for the Domestic Cricketer of the Year award along with Asif Afridi, Iftikhar Ahmed, Sahibzada Farhan and Tayyab Tahir, while last year’s award winners Alia Riaz, Anam Amin, Fatima and Nada Dar have been shortlisted for the Women’s Cricketer of the Year award. The winners of the Umpire of the Year and Spirit of Cricket Awards will also be announced on Thursday at 7 p.m.
