The Supreme Court reserved its decision on the admissibility of the petition to remove former Prime Minister Imran Khan from the post of Chairman PTI.
Lahore High Court Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi heard the petition filed by Muhammad Afaq Advocate.
Federal Government, Election Commission, Imran Khan and others have been made parties in the petition.
The court directed the petitioner’s counsel to read out that Imran Khan was disqualified under Article 63 One Three.
The petitioner’s lawyer read out that Imran Khan can no longer hold party office under Article 62, 63.
Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi inquired that how can Imran Khan not hold a party position? Satisfy the court.
The counsel for the petitioner requested that the interim relief should not be granted to me for the time being but notice should be issued to the parties.
Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi said that the court is reserving the decision on the admissibility of the application.
The petitioner has taken the position that Imran Khan has been disqualified from NA-95, after the decision of the Election Commission, he has become disqualified.
The stand taken by the petitioner is that Imran Khan does not even have the privilege of party chairmanship.
The petitioner has requested the court to order the removal of Imran Khan from the post of party chairman.
Yesterday, the Lahore High Court had scheduled the hearing of the petition to remove Imran Khan from the post of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman.
