Elon Musk, the new head of microblogging site Twitter, has announced an $8 monthly fee for users who want verified or BlueTick accounts.

Elon Musk is taking massive steps to improve Twitter’s service as he takes control of Twitter.

They say the paid monthly membership initiative is the only way to defeat fake accounts and trolls.

Elon Musk has criticized the company’s past policy through explanatory tweets in this regard, saying that Twitter’s current policy is outdated, under which a distinction has been made between blue ticks and ordinary users.

He said that the monthly fee for verified accounts for different countries will be adjusted to maintain parity.

Users who have a BlueTick account after paying the fee will be given priority in replies, tagging and searches, which will help defeat spam and fake accounts, he said. Along with this, these users will get the facility to post long videos and audios and also get advertisements.

He also said that users who are publishers who want to work with Twitter will be provided with a paywall bypass facility. Paywall Bypass is a feature that allows access to locked content.

He said that the revenue generated from the fee collection will be rewarded to unique creators of Twitter.

He also said that a secondary tag would be introduced for celebrities, especially politicians.

Elon Musk has clarified that Blue Tick accounts will be more authorized in future and such users will have to pay a fee of $8 per month (which closes to Rs 1774 in Pakistani currency).

He has given a message to all the complaining users through another tweet that ‘You keep complaining but the monthly fee will be only 8 dollars’.

It should be noted that earlier there were rumors that Elon Musk was charging a fee of $20 per month for the verified account holder, but now he has officially announced the charge of $8.

On the other hand, critics say that this move will make it difficult to identify and verify reliable sources. This feature of Verified or BlueTick for high profile personalities is currently free.

Soon this subscription service will be introduced for users in USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
