Local body elections: Sindh government has sent a reply to the Election Commission’s letter

The Sindh government has sent a reply to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s letter regarding the local body elections.

A response was sought from the ECP on October 28 regarding the second phase of local body elections in Sindh.

According to the text of the letter, a security related report has been requested from the Ministry of Interior, a report has been received from IG Sindh and Additional IG Karachi.

According to the text of the letter, the IG Police has once again asked for a reduction in the number of personnel for the election process.

The letter also said that the report of IG Sindh said that 4 to 8 policemen are required in each polling station for the transparency of local elections.

According to the text of the letter sent to the ECP, police personnel in other districts are not available for 3 months due to floods.

The letter stated that 5,000 personnel were requested from the Sindh Police on behalf of the Ministry of Interior, these personnel are currently under the IG Islamabad in the federal capital.

In the letter sent to the ECP, it was said that the police personnel are also engaged in the Corona vaccine campaign, police will also be required for the 11th Ideas Exhibition 2022 in Karachi.

According to the text of the Sindh government’s letter, all these reports have been received from the Ministry of Interior, for all these reasons, a peaceful, transparent local government election does not seem possible.
