Delay in local body elections, notices issued to parties on request of Jamaat-e-Islami

The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Election Commission, Chief Secretary Sindh and Meteorological Department and others on the request of Jamaat-e-Islami to hold local elections in Karachi without delay.

The lawyer of Jamaat-e-Islami, in his petition filed in the Sindh High Court, took a stand that the Sindh government is deliberately delaying the delimitation process.

The lawyer of Jamaat-e-Islami said that MQM and Tehreek-e-Insaf put pressure to postpone the local body elections, Karachi is in the worst situation due to lack of local body system.

The lawyer of Jamaat-e-Islami said that the situation of Karachi is worst due to lack of local government system.

It should be noted that the application has been filed by Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi secretary Munim Zafar and Saifuddin.

In the petition, it has been requested that the Election Commission’s August 24 notification of postponing the local body elections should be annulled.
