Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has chaired a review meeting regarding the implementation of energy saving measures in the country.

According to the announcement of the Prime Minister’s Office, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khurram Dastgir, Makhdoom Murtaza Mehmood and Minister of State Mossadegh Malik participated in the review meeting on the implementation of energy saving measures.

The meeting was briefed on the 10,000 megawatt solarization project through the production of solar panels at the local level.

The meeting participants were also briefed on production of electric motorcycles, installation of conical baffles in geysers, production of low power consumption fans and light bulbs.

It was informed in the briefing that the process of solarization of 671 government buildings has started, the process of solarization of feeders of 11 kW has also started.

The meeting was told that in Pakistan, conical baffles have been made mandatory in the construction of new geysers, while the strategy for installing conical baffles in old geysers has also been finalized.

In the briefing, it was said that steps are also complete to manufacture energy efficient fans and bulbs in the country, from the next fiscal year, fans and bulbs that consume electricity will not be manufactured in the country.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the process of solarization of government buildings should be accelerated and completed within a specified period.

He further said that the policy for production of electric motorcycles and solar panels should be finalized and implemented next month.

Shahbaz Sharif also said that a comprehensive plan should be presented to replace fans with high electricity consumption in the country.
