Former captain and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq termed the expected appointment of Mickey Arthur as a slap on Pakistan cricket.
It should be noted that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is trying to sign a contract with Mickey Arthur.
However, expressing his views during a recent interview, Misbah-ul-Haq said that this is a slap on the face of our cricket system.
“We are not able to find a high-profile full-time coach. It’s a shame that the best coaches don’t want to come,” said the former head coach.
Misbah-ul-Haq said that we are looking at the one who has kept Pakistan as the second option.
The former captain said that I will blame my system which is weak. We have to blame ourselves for not giving ourselves credit or honor.
Misbah-ul-Haq said that we have damaged our image, former and current players do not respect each other. Former players speak against others for the ratings of their YouTube channels.
He said that the players speak against each other for their doubts and complaints, the impression becomes strong among cricket fans, this situation creates an impression that we are not capable.
The former captain said that Pakistan cricket is less in the headlines because of its excellence, with former cricketers making fun of their teammates on national channels.
He also said that there is no respect for each other and there is no meaningful conversation.
Misbah said that PCB always backs foreign coaches and never supports local coaches.
Misbah-ul-Haq said that the board is fond of foreign coaches and feels that local coaches become politicized and not worthy.
He said that when the board is under pressure, it throws local coaches under the bus.
He further said that there is no accountability of bureaucracy in PCB, mismanagement and continuous changes are the root of the problem. We have never found a strong foundation in our cricket.
Misbah-ul-Haq said that there is a common narrative that there is no one capable of doing this in Pakistan, so the board has to look outside. The sad thing is that there is no consistency in our policies. Successful teams like India have reverted to home coaches, we have many good people in our system too.
He said that Muhammad Akram, Aqib Javed, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis have done good services. These cricketers are badly discredited, people think that these people are not good for the job.
